Quilt Retreat Part 3
The last day of our retreat was pretty short, especially when you figure in packing and such. But it was still a great day.
Nothing like a yummy Sunday brunch! Especially after staying up nearly all night chatting like two school girls.
So, if burning my thumb on my right hand wasn't enough, stabbing my finger on the left hand should do it. Just call me Klutzy Crenshaw.
I was able to finish up the last section for the Beach Bargello quilt.
Then I got to do a little bit of work on my "Hope in January" table runner.
These are pics of my sweet girl doing her first actually quilting on the top she finished earlier this month. I'm so proud of her!
After we got home, I received the best greeting from all the furbabies!!!! I guess they missed me as much as I missed them.

Quilt Retreat Part 2
Here are some highlights of our second day at the retreat.
So sleepy from staying up way too late. But we loved the matching PJs!
Breakfast was so yummy that I forgot to take a pic until I was nearly done.
My sweet girl doing quilty math! She got to wear her Blessings of Abraham shirt and I got to brag about her being a great artist for painting the design.
Working on the second section of Beach Bargello.
Lunch was a little sparse for someone that doesn't like anything mayo-based. No worries, we had snacks galore! Lunchables, Pringles and cherry tomatoes made up for my picky taste buds.
Dinner, on the other hand, was so amazing I forgot to take a picture at all. Pot roast, carrots, onions, potatoes, gravy, etc. So, very good!!!!
Me in my Blessings of Abraham shirt with the finished second section.
Working on the third section of Beach Bargello.
My little artist working hard and designing Round 2 of her Ostrich. Yes, I had jammies to match those she is wearing.
Finished with the third section and very ready for bed!!!!

Quilt Retreat Part 1
My daughter, Hailey, and I spent the weekend at a UFO quilting retreat. We both had a wonderful time. We bonded with each other, made new friends, and overall had a great time. Here are some pics from day 1.
This little iron gets really, really hot. Burning my thumb was not the best way to start the weekend. I tried to be tough and deal with the pain by using ice (which I learned later is a big mistake), but after awhile I couldn't handle the pain anymore. Not to mention I wasn't able to do anything quilty. So, my sweet hubby drove all the way back out to the retreat center to bring me to the ER, which is back by our home. Second degree burn. But they had a magic cream that took care of the pain and I was able to be productive the rest of the weekend!
Here we are, on our way to Our Lady Queen of Peace Retreat Center! Hailey made sure we had matching or coordinating outfits for the whole weekend.
Hubby and son were our wonderfully strong men. They drove us there so they could carry everything in and help us set up!
Checked in and got our name tags. We both lost our clips really soon when we accidentally said the word "quilt".
Hailey getting our room set up with the comforts of home. It was great having this mother/daughter time together. We stayed up late each night talking in the dark.
My station working on the beginning part of what I'm going to call "Hailey's Beach Bargello" quilt.
Hailey's station, right next to me, where she was working on her Ostrich Challenge quilt.
Hailey cutting fabric to make a small border on her OC with mitered corners.
Me just sewing green strips together. I promise it will eventually look like something.
Wonderful dinner and dessert to help us carry on through the evening.
First bit of progress and her mitered corners are awesome!
My first of several sets of strips completed!

Happy Monday!
I have a few things to share this Monday evening. The main thing is that I'm so proud of my daughter, Hailey, for finishing her first quilt top. She did an amazing job from start to finish! The pattern is one of mine, so I'm truly honored by that. And while it was initially created for pre-cut strips, she found all of her fabrics from my stash and cut them herself. I love eye for color and I love that it is so different from mine!
I also want to talk about the Blessings of Abraham mystery quilt. I am finally able to show the results from the first three clues. I really wish I could show you the top. Only a few have seen it, but all have been pleased with the finished product. IF you are wanting to participate and haven't yet, please know that each of the clues are relatively small and are only posted once a week, so it wouldn't be hard to catch up. But even that isn't really an issue... this quilt will remain on the is blog, free of charge, forever (or while blogs still exist). Start it when you want, take your time, my only real suggestion is to not look ahead...don't spoil the surprise for yourself.
Finally, where I am at on my Ostrich Challenge, other than behind. I painstakingly finished sewing all of the braiding down. It wasn't too bad except for all the starts and stops. This next round should be a great deal faster and easier. The challenge was in deciding what to do. I'm really excited to see what this next part will add to the whole thing.

Happy May Day!!!
I hope you get blessed with flowers this month. I hope I get blessed with flowers this month, LOL.
Regardless, blessings are already covered for me in May. I have two amazing kids, so Mother's Day is covered. And the week after Mother's Day, my daughter and I are taking our first quilting retreat trip together! We are both really excited! She wants us to wear matching clothes all weekend. I love that girl! I packaged up three projects last night for the trip.
One of the projects is a quilt for her. I spent a lot of time doing quilty math last night as I finalized the design. Here are the fabrics...
I even managed to add another row to hubby's SSDIY quilt.
